I am excited to announce that I am running for Converse County Commissioner.  I’m starting my campaign by reaching out to you, my friends, community, and family, to ask for your endorsement, financial support, and volunteer effort.

Born in Casper and have lived in the Converse County area my entire life. I grew up on a small ranch west of Douglas. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Sheri, for 35 years. We raised our 2 children on a small ranch west of Douglas, neighboring the place where I grew up.  Our children are married and raising their families in the Douglas area. They have blessed us with 2 grandchildren and soon to be one more. We raise commercial cows and farm alfalfa hay on the irrigated land. We are small business owners of several small businesses; we started with Blackburn Cattle Co Inc and have grown into several more.   I started my work career as an apprentice electrician, then went to work at North Antelope Rochelle Coal working in many capacities including my position at this time of Maintenance Director. I feel that the experience I have in the workforce and starting and running small businesses from the ground up, gives me the insight to understand the impacts of the current government on the industries, small businesses, and the residents of Converse County. I would like the opportunity to help guide the system for today, tomorrow and my grandchildren’s future.

I bring a conservative approach, supporting the Republican Platform, with the integrity to uphold the constitution to the best of my ability. If elected I would bring fiscal responsibility and transparency to the commission. I would strive for lower taxes, spending transparency, and constitutional rights. Being in leadership in multiple capacities, I understand the “Power of Why” and utilizing these type of leadership strengths would allow me to represent the citizens in Converse County. Even when people don’t agree, they need to be heard, and an explanation of “why” usually helps everyone move forward in the same direction. I encourage different opinions and ideas to help foster a growing and more powerful environment.
